Craniofacial Pain
Commonly referred to as "TMJ, TMJD, or TMD"
Craniofacial ("TMJ") pain is discomfort or pain in the cranial (head), neck, or facial regions. Basically, this means everything above the shoulders. The nickname "TMJ" came about because this craniofacial region is so interconnected with various day-to-day movements and functions that often times many pains have an epicenter in the jaw joints and the bottom of the head.

Causes of craniofacial pains are many but commonly include injury, arthritis, sleep-disordered breathing, tongue dysfunctions, teeth grinding or clenching, and stress with all it's different forms.
